After co-owning & operating a successful external facades company in the UK, Ben & Mariana Lindesay returned to New Zealand with their children. Bringing their 25 + years of experience to the area, the husband and wife team founded Block & Plaster in 2016 and the small family run business quickly gained momentum across the Auckland regions.

A well-seasoned construction industry professional, Ben is all about the details with quality control playing a vital part in every project he manages. With extensive hands-on experience using the latest European systems and products, Ben ensures he’s well versed and trained in all the latest worldwide innovations which ensure the small family run business can always compete with the big players in the industry.

Mariana brings her vast Human Resource Management skills to the business with a keen eye for hiring personnel who are the right fit for all projects and bring the dedication and hard work ethic that underlines everything Block & Plaster stands for.

With over 25 years of experience across New Zealand and Australia, Shane brings together traditional plastering knowledge, modern construction systems, and hands-on project leadership to deliver results built to stand the test of time.

Shane's career began in New Zealand. Time spent in Australia deepened his expertise across internal plastering, modified plaster systems, and heritage restoration, including years with specialist firms delivering lime putty finishes, artisan detailing, and in-situ architectural cement moulds on some of Melbourne's most significant historic buildings.

Returning to New Zealand in 2020, Shane moved into weathertightness remediation project management.

Having worked across every level of the trade, Shane brings a rare combination of technical depth and practical leadership to every project he manages.

With more than 30 years in the construction industry, Ben began his career at 18 with a brick and block laying apprenticeship in Auckland, completing his trade qualification over three years. He then moved to Australia, spending a further three years honing his skills on a wide range of commercial and residential projects.

Returning to New Zealand in his mid-twenties, Ben established his own construction company specialising in hardscape landscaping. Over the years, his work has expanded to cover all aspects of block laying, concrete construction, retaining walls, paving, timber construction, and complete outdoor projects, building a reputation along the way for quality workmanship, reliability, and attention to detail.

Throughout his career, Ben has successfully owned and operated construction companies, managed complex projects, and led teams to deliver high-quality results. His passion for the trade remains as strong today as when he first started, and he takes pride in providing clients with durable, well-crafted work built to the highest standards.
